Mission Statement
"The Grandview School Council will work collaboratively to enhance the educational experience of all Grandview students by providing an accessible & welcoming forum. We will seek advice, share information, identify, & discuss issues that affect the school community. The Council will promote & encourage communication between home, school and community to enable families to actively share responsibility for their children's education."
Role of School Council
Our school council is an advisory body of volunteers who work together to provide ideas and opinions to help the principal, and sometimes school trustees, make the school a better place for learning. Our school council should represent the racial, ethno-cultural, socioeconomic and linguistic diversity of the entire school community, which includes parents and guardians of the children enrolled in the school and other people who live or work in the school's attendance area. It should give our community opportunities to discuss educational issues and respond to local educational needs by providing information for parents and community members, getting feedback from them, and presenting their views to the school and school board. It should help our school identify and respond to the educational needs of our community.
In its role as a link between the school and the community, our school council has two very important functions - to establish and maintain good communications among the school, parents, and community and to encourage parents and members of the community to participate in education.
